Case study

Bunu Shop

Handmade accessories and jewelry — Colombia

Bunu Shop — Handmade accessories and jewelry — Colombia

The problem

Bunu Shop sold handmade accessories and jewelry from a single Instagram account. It had no website and no presence in search engines: anyone searching for the brand by name on Google found nothing — no listing, no link, no trace. For a potential customer looking for unique handcrafted pieces in Bogotá, Medellín, the rest of Colombia or from abroad, the brand was invisible.

Context

Bunu Shop is a personalized, handmade accessories business based in Gamarra, Cesar, shipping across Colombia and internationally. Its entire commercial operation and catalog lived inside Instagram, a platform nobody reaches from a Google search. The brief was to give the brand its own address on the web and make it show up when someone looks for it.

The solution

  • Own website at bunushop.store
  • Product catalog browsable outside Instagram
  • Pages optimized for brand and product searches
  • Direct link to Instagram and to WhatsApp orders
  • Google Search Console to monitor and fix indexing
  • Google Analytics to see where traffic comes from

Features

  • Fast static site, built with Astro and Tailwind and deployed on Vercel.
  • Content structure built for SEO: titles, descriptions and brand data readable by Google.
  • Accessories and jewelry catalog with the featured pieces, outside the Instagram feed.
  • Calls to action toward WhatsApp orders and the Instagram profile (@bunu_shop15).
  • Sitemap submitted to Google Search Console to speed up indexing.
  • Measurement of visits, traffic source and behavior with Google Analytics.

Technical decisions

An own domain, not another profile on someone else's platform

Instagram belongs to Instagram: its content doesn't rank like an owned website and the platform makes the rules. A domain like bunushop.store is a brand asset — it can be optimized, measured and grown without depending on a social network's algorithm.

Astro because SEO starts with speed

A catalog site doesn't need a heavy framework. Astro generates static HTML that loads almost instantly, and Google rewards that speed in ranking. Less JavaScript, more pages that rank.

Measure from day one with Search Console and Analytics

Without data, "grow the reach" is a hunch. Search Console shows which searches surface the brand and which pages Google indexed; Analytics shows where people come from. With that, decisions stop being blind.

Difficulties

  • Starting from zero in search engines: a new domain has no history or authority, so indexing and brand ranking take time and have to be nudged along with Search Console rather than waited out.

Result

  • The brand now appears on Google when someone searches "Bunu Shop", with a link to the site and visibility for its Instagram profile.
  • The site at bunushop.store gives the brand its own address that can be shared, measured and ranked.
  • With Search Console and Analytics the reach and traffic source are measured, and the business's visibility grew compared to the Instagram-only stage.
